Dover Sea Angling Association.

The last two weeks saw the first matches in the Dover Sea Angling Association Junior calendar. On Saturday 12th, 12 Juniors braved the cold weather to fish the Bill's Bait and Tackle competition on Dover Beach.
The results were poor with very few sizeable fish being landed. A solitary dab of 29cms. was enough to give Joe Soloman first prize.
Second was Ben Danson with a Dab of 26cms.
Third place went to Dane Mansfield.
On Saturday 19th, 14 juniors competed in the first of the monthly series of competitions sponsored by G.NADIN Insulation of Gladstone Road Deal. The match was fished on the Prince of Wales Pier, with a measure and release format, allowing all fish caught to be returned. The match was pegged at the shore end of the pier as the Sea Cat was at its mooring at the start of the competition and I believe that this was a factor in the poor catches made. However the eventual winner Shane Edwards landed two plump flounders.
Second was Dane Mansfield
Third place went to Jay Sedgwick.
Winner of the under 12 section was Lee Evans. All gained valuable points towards the yearly championship trophies. Mick Nadin, of G.Nadin Insulation is himself a keen angler and has sponsored the 2002 series of monthly matches, providing cash prizes for each match and trophies for the series and I would like to thank him on behalf of the Junior Membership for this valuable help. DSAA has a full calendar of Junior fishing competitions and festivals throughout the year. The monthly series and all competitions are attended and supervised by experienced senior anglers with help and instruction on hand at all times. All matches have age group categories and some parental assistance is allowed with the younger anglers but in general the National Federation of Sea Anglers Rules are applied throughout. The next junior competition in the monthly series will be fished from the Prince Of Wales Pier from 9am to 1.pm on Saturday 16th February 2002.
